We have decades of international experience. A very significant proportion of our work emanates from projects and disputes which arise outside the UK. Our expertise extends throughout the world and across our core areas of practice. We have extensive experience of managing multi-jurisdictional disputes.
We regularly work with overseas clients and foreign lawyers and direct relationships often reduce costs and increase speed of response and flexibility of service. We can undertake almost any work in connection with matters taking place outside the UK and we have particular experience in partnering with local law firms and assisting them in managing the dispute and arbitration process, wherever that dispute arises and however it is to be resolved. We travel anywhere for meetings and hearings and our fees are competitive and realistic. The services that we can offer include:
- Providing legal advice on the merits of a dispute or concerning the meaning of a contract
- Drafting written documents, including arbitration pleadings and pre- and post-hearing briefs.
- Assisting with the review of documentary, factual and expert witness evidence.
- Oral advocacy at interlocutory and final hearings.
Thus, not only can we provide advocates to represent clients before the tribunal, we can also provide a team who can liaise with experts and deal with all steps necessary to prepare a case for hearing or to assist with decision making in connection with a project. We have extensive experience in mediation and negotiation and are able to focus on the clients’ strategic and commercial objectives. We also have experienced Arbitrators who are members of many of the specialist arbitration panels and who sit in London, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and elsewhere.
Many of our barristers are also members of Pump Court International who are tenants at Arbitration Chambers Hong Kong - a multi-national office specialising in international arbitrations seated in Hong Kong and in the wider Asian area. As a result, our barristers commonly appear in arbitrations in Hong Kong and Singapore and other locations in East and South East Asia in all of our practice areas.
We have a long established practice of working with local and international law firms in dispute resolution throughout the UEA, Qatar, Oman and more recently in Saudi Arabia. Our QCs and juniors regularly work in the Middle East as advocates mainly in dispute resolution involving major infrastructure, oil & gas and power plants, water and other industrial plants as well as residential projects whether governed by UAE, Qatari, Omani or English law.
One of our QCs is admitted to practice in all Australian jurisdictions and is a member of the Victorian Bar, and others are registered foreign lawyers in the Singapore International Commercial Court. Many of our barristers are registered as advocates in the Dubai International Centre Courts and the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Kuala Lumpur.
